Crunching down on leaves and acorns
Walking in the woods nearby
A sparrow sings
From the branches of an oak tree
As I wander past
Over the creaky wooden bridge
The creek it covered is gone now
Too little rain to sustain it
Two squirrels chase each other
Up a tree, with only their bushy tails visible
I arrive before a large tree stump
Where my friend waits for me
A skinny black cat
Missing one eye
And half a tail
I sit beside him
Pet him gently
Give him attention
He purrs loudly
Showing appreciation
For my affection
We share this moment of
Peace and Joy
Every day
At dusk
Very nice, got a warm and fuzzy reading your poem.
