Best Books from Childhood

Do you remember your favorite book from childhood?

One favorite book from childhood was Pat the Bunny by Dorothy Kunhardt. I liked how you could play Peek-a~Boo with Paul, scratch Daddy’s beard, look in the mirror and other engaging activities.

The Cat and the Hat Comes Back by Dr. Seuss was also a favorite on mine. I loved the rhymes he created and the sounds of the words as they were read out loud.

“When our mother went

Down to the town for the day

She said, ‘Somebody has to

Clean all this away.

Somebody, SOMEBODY

Has to, you see.’

Then she picked out two Somebodies.

Sally and me.”

Thirdly, I loved The Little Engine that Could by Watty Piper. This was a great story with a moral. If you think you can do something, you are more likely to try it and find success, rather than saying, “I can’t do something,” because you never tried doing it before.

I fondly remember my mother reading these three books to me, and many more. Thanks, Mom, for instilling such a great love of reading in me.
