San Francisco Botanical Garden

If you ever have a chance to visit this beautiful “City by the Bay,” make sure you get over to the botanical garden there as it’s among the best in the world.

The garden is divided into sections of the world where specific flowers, plants, bushes and trees grow. For example, in the “Southeast Asian Cloud Forest,” you can see what type of trees, plants, bushes and flowers grow in that part of the world. And because of the temperate climate in San Francisco, these species can grow there too!

San Francisco residents get to go to this garden for free! For non-residents, the price to enter is $10. However, people 65 and older only have to pay $7. The park opens at 7:30 am and closes at 9 pm. But if you get there between 7:30 am and 9 am, entry is free to everyone! Early risers take note. Free tours of the garden are also offered every day at 1:30 pm starting at the Main Gate.

Here is a photo essay of some of the beautiful flowers and trees you can can see if you visit. I didn’t write down the names of what I photographed because I was too busy enjoying their beauty. Perhaps some of you green thumbs out there can identify some of the flowers by popular name or species.

In addition to having beautiful flowers, lush green plants and tall trees, the garden has nice decorative touches such as is shown below.
